[SOLVED] moS3@Asus HD2 - video not smooth

[SOLVED] moS3@Asus HD2 - video not smooth

Postby ern » 19 Jul 2013, 09:47

Dear moS fans!
After using my new Asus O!play HD-2 player for a week I have two issues:
- playing video is not smooth (tested avi files with 480p and 720p)
- my player is working 24/7 but it isn't stable, random restarts when trying to play something, or randomly hangs up

I did:
update repos list
update all modules (see on attached screen)
install sd card with ext3 to use Swap on drive
install Ram zipped swap

Can you provide some tips and tricks to resolve my issues please?

remove RAM zipped SWAP. Plug HDD via sata interface and make swap there. Size of swap partition should be a RAM*2 !

I did what you say, at the moment I've swap on hdd with total size 481972b.
I discovered that my hdd (wd green series) was very hot, thats why I leaved it outside the asus box.
Additionally I installed Spin down service witch should help to decrease hdd temperature.

I will observe if it's better or not.

Code: Select all
~/etc # free

Re: moS3@Asus HD2 - video not smooth

I left my home for few days, after I went back I noticed that Transmission reset to default settings.
I set all again, launch new downloads - I think that this service is a source of my problems.
When this service is disabled system is much more stable.
Should I change Transmission to other version?
Which services are not necessary in my case (Asus HD-2 owner)? I attached print screen with my moServices.

Cheers!
Lukasz

I need to put root password to connect to the player with moS Manager (I already set up password for root) where I should do this?:D
moS Manager is waiting to input password, I tried to put Password option to OPlaySM.ini - but didn't work;)

player have 128 mb RAM only and download torrents and play video at the same time it is very hard. You choice - quick swap. On HDD plugged via SATA and swap partition in the begin of disc.

Yeah, that's true.
I will try to move swap partition from end of sata drive to the begin. Probably that's all I can do at the moment.
Thanks for reply Farvoice:)

Cheers!

SOLVED!
I knew that I screwed up something, but now I know what!
I've changed Video settings to:
TV System - 1080p
Digital noice reduction - ON
1080P 24 Hz - ON

..but I was wrong!
My Sharp LCD TV is working on 1080i resolution. And in my casy only this option should be set up.

Conclusion:
Ram memory is not an issue as I thought.

Thanks for all your help!:-)

Cheers,
Lukasz

Ps. My S40sshd and S11optware scripts placed by me in /usr/local/etc don't start when system starts. Should I do something more?
Ps2. How to connect from moS Manager (from PC) to Asus O!Play when I set root password?
