Google Maps MOS plugin (WIP)

Google Maps MOS plugin (WIP)

Postby tweakradje » 25 Nov 2011, 02:37

Hi,

After finding a google maps / streetview plugin on http://playon.unixstorm.org and I tried it on MOS fw. It runs a little but direction buttons don't work well.
There is a "coordcal.php" scripts that should calculate the correct values but it is way to complicated. Can be easier.

Install:

- copy to usb stick and place stick in device
- telnet to your device
- cp /tmp/usbmounts/sda1/gmaps* /tmp
- pm install gmaps alone

EDIT: if package is not installed? then edit /usr/share/mos/etc/pm/installed and add it manually.

That should install it as a MOS rss module (folder /usr/share/mos/.... or /usr/local/etc/mos/www/modules/gmaps)
I use a Samba share to /usr/local/etc for easy editing the files on the device.

This is WIP.

Please try and feel free to improve !!!

It is working OK now. I have added the play button to cycle trough the map modes.
Some work need to be done to the button mapping I think. It is not very consistent.
up/down should in any map mode be forw/backw (street) or move up/down (map).
Will do that later. Also google api has possibility for directions to destination.
And perhaps live traffic?

ps: @farvoice - is it possible to add to main repository?

Before installation you must copy the archive to /tmp directory
Or just download to /tmp
Open your telnet session and type:

Code: Select all
cd /tmp
wget http://www.moservices.org/forum/download/file.php?id=879
mv ./file.php?id\=879 /tmp/gmaps.tar.bz2
pm install gmaps alone

...and enjoy :)
Or even better without renaming:
Code: Select all
cd /tmp
wget http://www.moservices.org/forum/download/file.php?id=879 -O gmaps.tar.bz2
pm install gmaps alone

Well, I would write a bit differently
Code: Select all
wget http://www.moservices.org/forum/download/file.php?id=879 -O /tmp/gmaps.tar.bz2
pm install gmaps alone

Its a little bit problem with search location. I can't get it make proper parse following rss code:
Code: Select all
<item>
<title>Google Maps</title>
<link>rss_command://search</link>
<search url="http://127.0.0.1/modules/gmaps/gmaps.php?find=%s" />
<media>/var/www/scripts/GMaps/image/maps.jpg</media>
</item>

I don't know how to adopt it for moservices def_rss.php file. ?

as I understand, it's a call to keyboard and them call to goolge maps module with string entered.
You must to write RSS doing this functionality.
