New line of FW - AMP (r13)

New line of FW - AMP (r13)

Postby FarVoice » 14 Oct 2011, 14:05

Start a new topic about firmware.
On the sidelines decided it was time to separate the kernel from the GUI (Graphical User Interface, that is, what we see on TV). At this point the system will be known as amp (another media player, well, or decipher what you want) with its numbering releases (big thanks for Virtual, Sekator500 and 123serge123 for kernel) and skins - with its numbering.

In all configurations /usr/local/etc partition cut down to 4 MB to properly stand up FW to the player with 128 MB flash.
All FW included moServices3 with minimal configuration - vsftpd, autorun, irfake, skin selector

UPD 11/10/14 22:25 MSK fixed bug can not update the firmware from the Settings menu. Fws reloaded.

UPD 11/11/02 23:59 MSK Present amp_r6

I was previously using the POHD5440 firmware linked to in the other thread. I've just installed this new AMP firmware with POHD skin (amp_r5_pohd).

There is no longer the USB message/reboot loop as in the other firmware...good! Also, this amp_r5 firmware feels a bit faster. Is this possible or is it just my imagination? In any case, it is NOT slow!

I've only noticed one problem. When I press the "zoom in" button while playing an MKV (using a PlayOn!HD/Harmony remote) the unit reboots. This didn't happen when using the POHD5440 firmware linked to in the other thread.

I'm not using the jukebox because it seems too much work to set up correctly (I tried but it wouldn't work for me). Also, I don't like having to click through numerous screens (browsing through NAS) to get to the jukebox. Instead, I'm using the Thumbgen program (thumbgen.org) to create moviesheets. I haven't seen this discussed in English on this board. I highly recommend thumbgen! Scrolling through moviesheets is very quick (basically instant) whereas I've read that the jukebox is pretty slow. Also, I can quickly use the "shortcuts" menu (on POHD skin) to browse my movie cover thumbnails, press the "slow" button on my PlayOn!HD/Harmony remote to display the moviesheets (use up/down to scroll through each moviesheet), and press "play" to begin the movie. It works perfect. Unfortunately the R1 (and R3?) does not have a "slow" button though, so you would have to configure IRFake to accomodate the slow function. Or get a Harmony remote.

Many thanks to the developers. My R1 seems to finally be operating trouble-free and looks great, especially with the moviesheets generated by thumbgen 8-)

Hello guys,

I've installed the "amp_r5_pohd" firmware. I really like it and I mean it ...! ;)

Sometimes the O!Play it's rebooting when I press some buttons on the remote but this is not such a big problem for me.

You, guys, transformed this device in something really, really nice.

Thank you!
Miracle can happen!

Previous version HD2_11206_r51 had troubles decoding jpg and playing avi files on my asus R1, that is why I am on POHD73100_2115_r5 now.
Is it solved in this new firmware?

Please, read viewtopic.php?f=30&t=1037
At my R1 I was unable to repeat this. Key zoom works fine, at least for avi and mkv
