Hi there,

I have a HD2 and could upgrade via official procedure from delivered 1.11 to the official firmware (1.13) for HD2 last month.
As I was told in a polnish forum that I can upgrade to a modded FW and probably need a newer boot code (at first upgrade was not possible)
- so because hardware-reset didn't work - I entered the command via telnet
Code: Select all
echo "     " | dd ...

plugged in a stick with the modded FW, size about 100MB, and got an upgrade-screen after reboot. But nothing happened after hours..
then I tried the official FW 1.13 again with the stick, because maybe my modded was not compatible, but the upgrade to this failed again (nothing happens when the screen appears).

I didn't checked the boot-code before, because as the first try failed, they told me that I just need to update boot code.

NOW: what can I try? hope the box isn't broken. After booting only the update-screen appears and nothing happens....
of course telnet isn't working any more.

hope to get some help... it seems these boxes are not easy to handle.. :/

thanks in advance,
chris

Thank you farvoice!
I will try the Serial Cable. If I have a Serial Port, a Serial-Serial must be ok.
I Will have to Look up how to make the Cable-pins.

Does anybody know if Asus repairs that for free?
(because many People i think have this Problem)

---
Ok, after having a working bootcode v26 in my HD2, which best modded current Firmware can I use then?

This may be a stupid question (again...), but nevertheless:
What's the advantage of upgrading the bootcode? Or the other way round, are there disadvantages if you have bootcode 18 (like myself)?
