I gave up and went back to my previous modded FW. There were many problems with HD2 FW (atleast for me)
1. FTP/Samba issue: Samba didn't work at all (or atleast I don't know what else I should do once I enable it in the NAS). Before I enabled the SAMBA, the ftp was working fine, the website listed SAMBA server is off. Once I enabled it, the SAMBA server page and home page is blank, the server is not found in the network. Going back to FTP screwed FTP as well. After I fixed the folder problem, I got "ftp" user not found error.
2. USB/E-SATA problem: My drive connected to ESATA was working fine until I plugged in USB. First, the USB was not recognized. After few try and unplugged the e-sata connection, USB was recognized. But now, esata drive doesn't show up in the list after hooking it up again. I tried hard powering off both the drive and the oplay, checked the connection etc. Spent a good 10 minutes trying all options but still esata drive is not recognized.
3. File Copy: Did I miss this option in new FW? I looked everywhere but couldn't find this option. It is not there in the File Manager menu. I use it a lot (USB key -> esata HD) to move files.
I really liked the Thumbnail feature in the new FW (looking at the screenshots). That is the only reason why I decided to take the chance. But after going thro' all these issues, I realized it is not worth at least for now to upgrade to HD2. It seems, as usual, Asus has delivered a crappy/crippled software. I am going to wait for few more releases before I take the plunge again.
FarVoice, you are doing a commanding job. I have bookmarked this site and going to check it very often.
