Strange behavior

Strange behavior

Postby lbzg555 » 11 Aug 2012, 22:44

Hi everyone,

I have a some sort of strange behavior on my R1 - when it loads long or if it is in online menu for too long it just crashes with blank tv screen (sometimes it just turns off tv) and then remote does not respond and I need to restart it with pulling out a cable. Also there are lots of slowing down when I change channels to often.

Is this just on mine or is it some sort of bug or buffer overload? I use HD2 skin and Pyro's iptv software(Stream manager).

Can someone help me with this one? Or even explain why does this happens or how to avoid it?

If I have brake a rule by double post, I apologize in advance, but I did not see that any one have posted a problem like this before here.

For long, I have only used POHD.
Ran some tests on HD2 but kept using POHD for regular usage.
And now and then I have seen some weird behavior on POHD such as you mention on HD2.
Always gets solved by powering off/on the player.
Lately I haven't seen this happening.
Is your AMP up-to-date? Have you also updated your IPTVxtra?
Cheers

PS: your sig says you're using Official FW 1.41...

1.4 is last regular update from Asus on my R1 before modification if it means something...if it not I will delete it from sig. :-)

I have regularly apply all updates that pyro have done on software and problem persists...don't know how to control it. I have been using POHD for a while but it's menu is to complicated to navigate with R1 control and it is far more slower...I can't remember the version but I have installed it before few months (don't know how are updates on after that). I have roll back to HD2, quickly.

This bug is sooooo annoying and I'm 99% that is some sort of overflow of buffer or internal memory module.
Maybe skilled developers or whoever is working on it to just make a deep check about that overload in memory. If I know how I will do it myself. :-)

Also Is there new bootcode or amp? Where I can check all other versions of software installed?

If you're using pyro1000's IPTVxtra 1.2 then you're player is running AMP r8.
Official firmware from Asus is not running on your player, except the bootcode of course, and even that I'm not sure if it doesn't come from ACRyan instead of Asus.
Only Farvoice can tell.
Wish I knew how I'm not affected by your issue.
One thing I usually do is, flash AMP r8, install IPTVxtra, shutdown the player and power off from the power adapter.
Then I power it back on and I configure IPTVxtra.
I'm only running POHD skin, HD2 skin is not even installed.
And I did flash AMP r8 POHD, the one that comes with POHD skin only.
If I were you I would try to reflash my player.

Thanks. I'm gonna install POHD on my R1. Gonna try that way and if it does not help I will post this issue here again. Also I will send that report to Farvoice (if he didn't already seen it). :-)

I'm using Pyros 4.1.7. version and don't know for IPTVxtra - where to check?

Honestly don't know if Farvoice can be of any help since he doesn't develop IPTVxtra.

When you're watching your media player's menu on the TV, look at the bottom right corner.
It will tell you IPTVxtra's release number.

Situation is far more worse on POHD than on HD2! I can't believe it.

IPTVxtra version I don't know it only shows IPTVxtra by Gerhard.

I can't think of another way to test this unless if you send me your playlists so that I can try them on my player.
No hurries because I can only test them during the weekend.

Ok, I have solved problem for now. This is what I have done:

1. I have reflashed my R1 from POHD to HD2 (both are r8)
2. Then I have install Pyros IPTV software (without additional lists of channels that can be selected from start menu)
3. After that I have installed this:

RAM zipped SWAP (compcache 0.6.2)

Now everything is working much faster. It still has some freezing now and then but all in all it works better. Don't know if it is from that, or just a reflash, but it is better.

This are all components that I have currently installed in my mos3:

UDP-to-HTTP Proxy v1.0b19-Chipmunk
vsFTPd FTP daemon v2.2.2
AutoRun
IR Fake RC replacement v1.2.13
Authorization
Remote date and time sync
Remount drives
Skin selector for HD2 revs
RAM zipped SWAP (compcache 0.6.2)
RSS Ex 2.0.11 r606

Also I have a question and if anyone knows the answer, please post it here or on my PM.

What are and for what are those components, and can I uninstall them, or what are consequences of doing that:

IR Fake RC replacement v1.2.13
Remote date and time sync
Remount drives
Skin selector for HD2 revs

@lbzg555

uninstall zswap - it's not required for HD2 FW
IR Fake RC replacement v1.2.13
Remote date and time sync
Remount drives
Skin selector for HD2 revs

This patches needs for normal work - do not remove it!
