02.06.00 PWN4G3 Firmware Mod
This is a custom firmware
This firmware was tested and is working completely fine on my own Mini Plus.

Changes from the original 02.06.00:
  • Root password changed to "admin": now you can telnet into your device
  • Facebook button on the remote now goes to Google instead of Facebook authentication

How to install:
1. Download the firmware from the links below.
2. Prepare an empty flash drive, format it to FAT32 using Windows.
3. Put install.img to the root of the drive.
4. Turn on the ASUS O!Play Mini Plus.
5. Insert the flash drive into the front port of the device.
6. Go to Settings --> USB Update
7. It will ask you to confirm the update from 02.06.00 to 02.06.00.
8. Do confirm the update and wait until it restarts back to the main menu.
9. Done!

Now you can telnet into your Mini Plus and use the Facebook button on the remote control to go to Google.

First of all - I'm new in this forum - hello everybody.
Some days before I become proud owner of the ASUS O!Play Mini Plus box. It replaced my terrible PS3 as media streaming client from NAS (QNAP TS-259) to the entertainment corner.
Following the advice of another AMAZON member I looked for "moservices" and found this nice piece of software.
After installing the Mini_Plus_mos_r7 image the box worked like a charme - many thanks for this well done job :D !!

But one thing is strange:
The original ASUS firmware (v 2.06.00) could handle TrueHD sound - the box with your FW shows in this case "unknown audio format".
Pushing the "Menu" button of the rc / select audio streams function will show the correct description of the embedded audio stream in the mkv container (f.i. "German, Dolby TrueHD 6ch") but no audio data passthrough happens.
My test configuration: Denon AV 2310 receiver via HDMI, SAME mkv files as tested under ASUS FW.

Last not least - I don't want to step back, to much disadvantages in the original FW, but may be you can/ will eliminate this bug. :?:

Thanks

TrueHD sound not supported by this device :( This is due to license fees

... and why did it work when the box run under ASUS FW 2.06.00 ?
Is it possible to implement the involved modules from the original FW to your image ? (I'm a LINUX noob :( )

Aaah  so it was my mistake in understanding.
I thaught your development is based on the ASUS FW, but it's carried from 3rd party.

However - you have done a nice work - I'll never change back.

Thank you.

Hi,
beeing new to this Forum I start thanking for the mostly improving FW to the O!play mini plus.
I tried to work with it some days ago and it came out pretty well.
Today I tried to find out what certain options could benefit and played with the fake RC option. By disabling it with the Asus RC - the RC stopped working right away. So I connected a USB keyboard which worked fine and enabled the option again. The FW took the command, but the RC doesnt work ever since.
Even with the Web application I couldnt get it to work again, somehow the moservices menu disappeared to outer space.
I didnt change too much at FW7 so I decided to remove and reinstall the FW7 - but it didnt work either. The Web app order started to do quite a lot, the mini plus restarted - and neither did the RC work nor had the FW removed.
What was wrong - what can I do?

Hi I am from France and I would like to thank you for your amazing job.

Some questions though :
1- I can't play some movies on uPnp but they are working on NFS mode (net). They are 1080p and 5.1 or DTS from what i have noticed. Why?
2-How can I make a shortcut with this firmware? Can I make a shortcut to a sub folder of a share or uPnp ?
3- same as 2 but for favorites

Thank you for your help
