New line of FW - AMP (r13)

Re: New line of FW - AMP (r8)

Hi,

last night, i flashed my O!Play R1 with latest official firmware (had previously pohd r5?r6?). Had to flash via telnet, echo " " etc because hard reset method didn't do anything. After that, flashed pohd r8 and on next boot it seemed to hang, it only shows the Asus logo and stays there. No telnet, remote doesn't work.

Didn't check the bootcode... :(

What to do next?

Bye seiral cable, connect it inside player, entry to realtek monitor and type an erase m command
Then, update old bootcode to 23 viewtopic.php?f=12&t=78 or viewtopic.php?f=12&t=98 and then flash FW what do you want

Will do, unfortunately serial cable will take a while to arrive. Will give feedback later.

I am thinking about flashing my PBO core with the AMP (r8) firmware. Are there any issues with this firmware and Windows 8?

Thank You

Hello, I have some issues/questions with amp_r8_pohd on Xtreamer MKI:
1. With POHD skin: Sometimes when the unit has bootet, the first screen shows some garbage on the screen. Big black and white rectangles with skewed contents inside (somehow overlaid over the normal Menu Screen). However it is still possible to read somehow the text on screen. When I then go into another menu and jump back to the Main Screen, everything is fine again. As I said.. This does not happen on every reboot. Maybe every 10th or so...
Maybe some timing issue when showing the initial Main Screen after booting? Any ideas?
Also after copying or moving a file oder folder with the filemanager, the system reboots. It does this every time.

2. POHD Skin: On the Main Screen, my internal HHD space is shown with 0/0, which is of course not correct. The internal disk is formatted as ext3 and I can correctly play files from it and also use it normally. But the space is not correctly shown. Also here: Any ideas?

3. Will the firmware fix the 24p problem of the Realtek Chipset on xtreamer MK1? Or is this problem really inherent to the chip itself and will never be fixed by firmware? I have watched a bit and think it is better now, but I am not quite sure. I think I still see the stutter every 41 seconds, but not as much? Maybe placebo-effect :) Still have to watch a complete movie to tell...
Also: Do skins have any effect on the playback routines? E.g. does xpro270 have another routine than pohd?
Update: I can confirm that the 24p bug of the realtek chipset is still there with amp_r8 with xpro270 skin. Tested with end credits scroller of 24p movie and stopwatch. So really looks like a chipset issue (xtreamer mk1).

Is it ok to update to r8 with bootcode 18? (instead of 23..)?

First you need to know your players bootcode. 17 and lower requires you to first upgrade. 18 or above is ok. To check your bootcode go to the homescreen and press stop then play on the remote.

Also is it possible to backup existing 1.33NTSC firmware before the upgrade? (because the ASUS website does not have it anymore)

thanks

edit: I did the update without bootloader update, force flash with the "cancel" method.

Is it possible for the fw to parse XML file dynamically for IPTV channels? thanks

Hi, I just want you to know I just upgraded to Windows 8 Pro and my Oplay with your last FW works just fine. There was some issues with setting up the folders sharing and I also used the good old registry hack as I had used in Win 7. But at the end of the day it works.
